About Wawa Thai Food

The flavors of Northern Thailand mixed with California’s best ingredients.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Oakland, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12–3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Wawa Thai Food at (510) 479-3465; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, wawathaifood.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 237 reviews, which is a strong result for a thai restaurant in Oakland and suggests consistent service.

Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Traffic in Oakland peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. we went in @730 pm , on Tuesday the young chick refused to sit us , she said only take out. My friend ordered two items $55.00 . to go. The food is ok, but the attitude is very poor. Today the restaurant business is highly competitive, specially Thai food. good luck

This was my first time eating here, footnote. I’m not from this area. Had a group that went hiking and decided on Thai food after the hike. Went with the chicken yellow curry and Jazmyne rice. Overall, it was good and the service was very friendly. At the end, they brought out some snacks for dessert that were prepackaged.

I found everything about this place perfect. The food was enormously good, and the red curry with wild rice was something I would get again. The ambience is cute but also proper, with good lighting and interior design. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. I came across it on a walk, while I was touring the neighborhood for a brief work trip.

We ordered takeout from here last night it was awesome. We had Chicken Satay, Crispy Spring Rolls, Papaya Salad, Eggplant Basil, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodle and Green Curry, Papaya Salad and Cucumber Salad. Everything was super fresh and tasty really good flavor the cucumber salad is a super good deal it was like $4 or something if I lived close that would be my snack. Lastly we had mango sticky rice, Thai Iced Tea and a Vietnamese Coffee. All for a little over $100 takeout. Would definitely do takeout again but next time we gotta eat in. I didn’t take a picture of my food plated but I did take a pic of leftovers so you know it’s a real review lol enjoy.

wawathaifood is now one of my favorite Thai restaurants to visit in Oakland! It is such a hidden gem! πŸ’•The artworks are so cute and welcoming. My friends and I love eating here! Everything we order was delicious and so flavorful. The Sweet and sour Snapper, Fried Chicken & Roti and Pad Thai were some of my favorites, though the ginger salad was so refreshing! You must order the #ขันโตก Khan Toke specials, it is food that is serve on a pedestal tray which is used as a small dining table. What a fun experience, with so many delicious little plates of food to samples. Don’t forget their Thai teas/coffee, and delicious cocktails. Check them out when you’re in Oakland, make sure to bring all your friends so y’all can try ALL their delicious Northern Thai dishes, especially the Khan Toke. We can’t wait to come back and try the other dishes.
